Bryce Love Amador, aka Brycey Boy (1998-2013)

Our sweet dog baby, Bryce died almost 3 months ago and I'm just now getting around to his tribute!  Between computer troubles and life, we are far behind!  A little over a year ago, we put our sweet old lady, Dakota to sleep.  Here is her tribute. Bryce definitely missed her.  Dakota was the leader, the boss, the confident one.  Bryce was the tender, go along with anything dog.  He tolerated a lot of coming and going in our house and he was always, always, always available for hugs and kisses.

Here he is at about 3 months old when we took him on a backpacking trip in the Adirondacks.  It was fall and we had to cross many creeks.  Each time, he would wait and whine until one of us picked him up and carried him across.  It was just too much for him.  He happily slept in the sleeping bags with us.  His fuzzy puppy self was so fun to cuddle with.

Here's Bryce with one of his bio sisters, Callie (who belonged to our dear friend, Chris).

Bryce and Dakota were at our wedding.  Many of our friends said that Bryce 'walked me down the aisle.'  Dakota, of course, was out enjoying the forest but Bryce decided to return for the ceremonies.  See him just to the left of us.
Like Dakota, he went on countless adventures.  Miles and miles of hiking, cross country skiing, and trail running.  He accompanied us on many climbing trips.  Even when the crags were short, he could be found right below us whining as we climbed up.  I can remember taking him down the Summersville Lake ladder so many times to go climbing.  He didn't like that ladder.  Each time he braced himself.  Even more than Dakota, because he was bigger and younger, we drug him to many, many places.  He was an awesome companion.
This is Bryce outside of our van lounging in Bishop, CA.
For so long, he was our baby.
It is very strange, and still very sad that he is gone.  We had dogs for 17 1/2 years and have always had dogs as long as we've been together.  It's like the end of an era.  I still think that I will see him hanging out by the front door and I sometimes think I still hear him outside whining to come inside.  He was a supersweet and tender soul.  I hope he and Dakota and frolicking together somewhere beautiful with healthy, youthful bodies.  We miss you Bryce!
